It shows open field action on the back slope and rolling fields not the actual area on the trench lines on top of the hills where real fighting was going on. So assuming the troop removal from the USSR-Iran border was a peace maneuver like Waldorf implies... I get the White House in the movie is portrayed as being hectic and all out of sorts. But why is it that the report of the removal not being broadcast on CVN portrayed as such an ultimate flashpoint for the US continuing to push into the Persian Gulf? The pictures appear to be from Department of Defense satellites (see the "DOD" in the lower left of the images). Does that information not get from the Pentagon to the WH somehow? The CVN exec and Tobin even state it's classified information, so it's got to be somewhere in the levels of the government. Is the WH in this movie that disorganized that they're relying on this news channel to broadcast such information? I just feel like something is missing here when it comes to such a pivotal moment in this film's timeline that ultimately drives things into WW3.
